macOS permissions are a fundamental part of ensuring the security and privacy of your data and system. They grant you control over what apps can access, protecting your sensitive information from potential threats. This system helps prevent unauthorized access and keeps your computer running smoothly. While it might seem like an extra step, these permissions are a vital layer of defense in today's interconnected world, promoting a safer and more reliable computing experience.
Because Fugoya operates beyond its own app sandbox, we naturally require your permission to enable our functionalities. Currently, the app only requires permissions for our automated time tracking to function. If you don't intend to use Fugoya's time tracking feature, you can safely decline all permission requests.
Presently, there are three permissions we require:
Accessibility – This is a broad permission necessary for apps to interact with others. Many apps need this permission for normal operation.
Screen Recording – Despite its name, Fugoya doesn't record your screen. Instead, it uses this permission to read the names and titles of the windows you have open, essential for our time tracking. Fugoya does not and will never record screenshots, video, or audio from your computer.
Automation – This permission is optional and comes into play when both Fugoya and a web browser of your choice are open simultaneously. It allows us to read the domain name of the current webpage, not just the window title. This feature enhances Fugoya's functionality by treating a website as an app, rather than using the browser's name.
Please note that after changing permissions like "Screen Recording", Fugoya requires a restart. If the app lacks necessary permissions and you haven't manually disabled time tracking, it should typically inform you about the missing permissions.
